Do you think Turkey should join the EU?

Within the UK, non Islamic women are being forced to wear an Islamic head scarf as part of their work ethic in jobs involving the State, like police women and fire women.

* Do you think it’s unacceptable for these ordinary European women not to wear headscarves when they have to visit mosques or other places where Muslims feel they have to wear it?

* Do you believe that issues like these will occur when Turkey would join the European Union?

Enlargment of Europe, manage it carefully

by Mark De Colvenaer on 24 September 2009 - 14:44.

Europe can be enlarged as long as it is managed carefully.   At this momen there are a lot of cultural, economic differences between the different member states.  All countries must be aligned and must focus on some common objectives.  Cultural diversity  can rather be an opportunity than a thread.

Opinion on Headscarves

by Xavier Grijp on 06 October 2009 - 10:44.

If the headscarve is a sign of religion I don't think it should be forced. A lot of people who are religious don't even express their believes, it's between them and their God.

Headscarves these days are still a sign of suppression of women in Europe I think, women still don't have equal rights to Muslim men. It's also a cultural behaviour. Personal expression is still important as we live in a democratic society.

Besides that I think it's dangerous to let Turkey join the EU, they would have a lot of power with their amount of population and I think that there are still a lot of different ways of thinking between them and us. I think there would have to be a well written regulation towards Turkey joining the EU, otherwise more issues like these will rise up I think.

Just a matter of respect

by Anonymous on 06 October 2009 - 10:59.

In my opinion it is nog problem at all that people adhere to a certain religion and want to show that.  We have to respect that people are different and want to experss their thoughts and faith via external signs.  However when people are forced to wear those signs and do not want to  those signs are more an indication about disrespect.  In such a case we have to continue the discussion about those external signs (e.g. headscarves) to emphasize that respect is still a cornerstone of humanity.

We are going all the wrong way

In EU, there is no place for an Islamic head scarf as a public symbol, it must be scrutinized and only be tolerated in private islamic communities.Turkey should never join the EU, because these problems will only rise up more in the EU and just because they have not the mentality of the EU.I visited cyprus this year (the greek part) and the people there are very sad that Turkey still occupies the northern part of their country (since 1974), how can such a country join the federation of Europe!

Turkey's membership would

Turkey's membership would also affect future enlargement plans, especially the number of nations seeking EU membership, grounds on which has opposed Turkey's admission.I want to say that Europe must give itself borders, that not all countries have a vocation to become members of Europe, beginning with Turkey which has no place inside the European Union

In such a case I would recommend more fashion trendy at korean fashion wholesale and great women's, men's, teens' collection. All kinds of categories, models from super clothing wholesale korean clothing all for your choices there -a world full of color and accesories.
